Moorhead Soccer Set to Host Warriors, Golden Bears

| By:
MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Minnesota State Moorhead soccer returns home for a pair of NSIC matches this weekend. The Dragons will match up with Winona State on Friday at 3 p.m. before hosting Concordia-St. Paul on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.

Live video and stats will be available at msumdragons.com. Moorhead is coming off a pair of losses to both Jamestown (2-0) and Northern State (3-1) last weekend.

Matchup History...The Dragons and Warriors have an even split in the last three contests against one another. Winona State toppled the Dragons last season, winning 5-1 in Winona. The season prior saw Moorhead take a 1-0 win on the road before the squads tied during the 2023 season. In their last five meetings, the teams are 2-2-1. However, Winona State owned much of the series prior to that, winning 12 straight matches from 2008 until the 2019 season. Concordia-St. Paul has won the last 16 straight against the Dragons dating back to the 2009 season. Moorhead has not defeated the Golden Bears since October 4, 2008, where the Dragons prevailed 3-0. The Golden Bears own the all-time series behind a 22-5-2 record.

Teamwork Makes The Dream Work...Moorhead pieced together a remarkable double assist goal against Northern State on Sunday. MSUM earned a corner kick in the 69th minute. On the corner, Sophie Thompson would deliver a ball that bounced once before being poked by the foot of Kaci Malo. The ball would take a Dragon bounce, landing in front of Mary Cox, who squared up for an attempt. Cox's mark found the top left corner of the net, equalizing the match at 69:24. Both Thompson and Malo gathered assists on the spectacular Dragon goal.

Kristensen Can Fix That...Sophomore goalkeeper Emilia Bukholt Kristensen had 11 more saves across MSUM's two matches last weekend. Kristensen stalled six attempts against Jamestown before stopping five on Sunday against Northern State. The Poulstup, Denmark, native leads the Northern Sun in total saves this season with 65. Kristensen also holds the league's sixth-best save percentage at .813.

Tick Tick Tick...Both Cox and Lizzy Jaraczeski would log a pair of full 90 efforts for Moorhead last weekend. Cox currently leads the team in minutes played (field player) with 805. Jaraczeski has logged 654 minutes so far this season with Sunday's match being her sixth full 90 of the season. Cox has played the full 90 in all but two matches in 2026, having only stepped off for five total minutes this season.

Thompson Surging...The junior Thompson has been MSUM's top point scorer so far this season, logging six points in nine matches for Moorhead. For reference, MSUM's highest point total in 2025 belonged to senior Lilly Johnson (7). The Dragons have not had a player score 10 or more points in a season since Erin Nyberg (16) and Isabel Neyman (11) in 2012.

Scott Forster is in his third season as MSUM's head soccer coach
