MSUM Drops Road Match to Bemidji State

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Minnesota State Moorhead soccer saw strong chances but could not capitalize in NSIC action Sunday afternoon. The Dragons fell to Bemidji State on the road, 3-0.

Once again, Mary Cox would provide early offensive opportunity for MSUM. The junior logged a shot on goal ahead of the nine-minute mark, requiring a save from Beaver goalkeeper Ana Steadman. Bemidji State would not manage a shot attempt on net through 20 minutes with one attempt hitting a post. The Beavers would strike at 21:04 to claim a 1-0 lead.

Cox would have a chance to equalize the match just after the ensuing kickoff with Steadman making a low save. Moorhead would log its third shot on goal of the first half off the foot of Kaci Malo just before halftime. Steadman would make another save and Bemidji State would carry a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Bemidji State would see a chance early in the second half, requiring a save from Emilia Bukholt Kristensen, her first save to that point. The Beavers would continue to be aggressive from there, scoring shortly after to take a 2-0 advantage. A Sophie Thompson shot on goal would be stalled by Steadman to keep the Dragons at bay.

Kristensen and the Dragon backline would stave off another Beaver goal ahead of the 72-minute mark, neutralizing a pair of shot attempts. Bemidji State would remain persistent, scoring a few minutes later to post a three-goal lead. That lead would hold through 90 minutes with MSUM logging five shots on goal to Bemidji State's seven.
