MOORHEAD, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead golf is set to take on the NSIC Golf Championships beginning Friday and wrapping up Sunday. The 54-hole tournament will take place at the Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Smithville, Mo. with tee times beginning at 9 a.m. each day.
Live results will be available at msumdragons.com. MSUM last competed on April 14 and 15 as part of the Wildcat Classic in Wayne, Neb. After 36 holes, MSUM finished in 12
th place with a cumulative score of 709. The 36-hole score is the second lowest of the season for the Dragons.
Day one of the tournament saw MSUM shoot a collective 362 across 18 holes, sitting in 11
th place in the team standings.
Halle Balluff was tied for 16
th place after 18 holes after carding an 83 on day one. Balluff was steady all afternoon, penciling seven pars, including back-to-back even scores on the 13
th and 14
th holes.
Aspen Beyer would finish her first round with a solid 88, which included six pars. Beyer collected pars on four straight holes to begin the back nine at Wayne Country Club.
Erin Summerbell was not far off Beyer, carding a first-round 90. Summerbell had five par scores in the round with three consecutive even counts on the 11
th, 12
th and 13
th holes.
Rounding out the scoring for MSUM on day one was
Regan Braun with a 101, which included a par and a birdie. Braun earned the one-under marks on the par-five ninth hole.
Karlee Luneckas turned in a 103 in round one with a par on the par-five 13
th hole.
MSUM would see a big improvement on day two, marking a 15-stroke improvement to card a 347 as a team. Balluff led the Dragons again, shooting an 85 to conclude the tournament with the junior carding six pars. Beyer and Summerbell would turn in identical 86 scores on day two with Beyer securing nine pars, including three straight to begin her round. Summerbell's round featured three pars and a birdie on the par-five ninth hole.
Luneckas broke into the scoring on day two for MSUM, improving by 13 strokes to pencil in a 90. The sophomore's round included a pair of pars while Braun also saw an improved score of 96. Braun's five-stroke improvement was highlighted by a trio of pars.
