MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University Moorhead track and field teams will travel to Tampa, Fla., to compete in the South Florida Invitational on Friday, April 7. The teams will also travel to Vermillion, S.D.. to compete in the USD Early Bird on Friday and Saturday this weekend.
This will be the first competitions for the Dragons in the 2023 outdoor track and field season following the cancelation of the Al Bortke Open last weekend. A small contingent of runners will be competing in Florida while the remaining Dragons will compete in South Dakota.
The last competition for the Dragons was the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 10 and 11.
For the Dragon men, freshman
Jared Gregoire placed ninth in the 800m run and earned All-American Second Team honors. Senior
Shyrone Kemp placed fifth in the triple jump and earned All-American First Team honors. Junior
Braxton Bruer finished tenth in the 800m finals and earned All-American Second Team honors.
Kemp was named the NSIC's Preseason Field Athlete of the Year for the outdoor season.
Elliott MacLennan was also deemed one of MSUM's athletes to watch this outdoor slate.
For the Dragon women, Sophomore
Ashley Hokanson finished with national runner-up honors in the pole vault and All-American First Team honors. Junior
Robynn Rolle-Curry finished ninth in the 400m run and earned All-American Second Team honors. Both Hokanson and Rolle-Curry were listed as MSUM's athletes to watch this outdoor season.
Ryan Milner is in his sixth season as head coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead.
