BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead track & field swept the NSIC Track & Field weekly awards with
Jared Gregoire claiming NSIC Track Athlete of the Week and
Shyrone Kemp nabbing the NSIC Field Athlete of the Week.
It is the first such honor for both student-athletes this season.
Kemp took home the honor thanks to another dominating performance in the triple jump at the Minnesota State Massive Meet #1. The senior had a top jump of 50'-04.50" on Friday, a new season-best and the eighth-best triple jump in Division II this season (also the top leap in the NSIC so far this season). Kemp won the event at the meet by over one foot.
Gregoire set a new MSUM school record in the 800m at the Minnesota State Massive Meet #2, clocking in a 1:50.95, which broke the previous school record set by teammate
Braxton Bruer earlier this season. The time is the top mark in the NSIC this season and ranks sixth in all of Division II.
The Dragons are in action this weekend at both the UND Tune-Up and the SDSU Last Chance meet. Both of those meets are scheduled for Saturday, February 18.
