MSUM Track and Field Sending Contingent to California This Week

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University Moorhead men's and women's track and field teams is sending more than a dozen athletes to compete at three events this week. MSUM will compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., the Mt. SAC Relays and at the Long Beach Invitational.

MSUM was also scheduled to send athletes to the Al Cassell Relays in Jamestown on Thursday but that event was cancelled.
 
The following athletes are competing in California:
 
Bryan Clay Invitational (Azusa Pacific):
WednesdayAdnew Stueven, Men's Steeplechase
Thursday – Peyton Lane, 10,000m and Braxton Bruer, 800m
Friday – Jumps, Pole Vault and Sprints group – Rachel Schumacher, Caitlin Pritchett, Robynn Curry, Ashley Hokanson, Shryone Kemp, Travis Joseph, Chris Cook, Ty Dawkins, Elliott MacLennan and Ibrahim Oduong
 
Mt. SAC Relays (Thursday)
Nadir Yusuf, 10,000m
 
Long Beach Invite (Saturday)
Schumacher, Pritchett, Curry, Kemp, Joseph, Cook, Dawkins, Oduong, MacLennan,
 
The last competition for the Dragons was the Al Bortke Open.  
 
For the men, senior Chris Cook won the high jump and junior Shyrone Kemp took second place. Chris Cook also took third in the triple jump. Junior Ty Dawkins won the 200-meter dash while senior Nadir Yusuf won the 1,500.
 
The 4x100 relay team, consisting of Junior Shaquiel Higgs, Ty Dawkins, Elliott MacLennan and Shyrone Kemp, won. The 4x400 relay team also won and consisted of Junior Kendrick Major, Braxton Bruer, Freshman Jerome Crayton and Junior Kory Powell-Oliver 
 
For the women, Junior Robynn Curry won the 400 meters. Sophomore Aislin Anderson won the 1,500. Senior Rachel Schumacher won the high jump and Caitlin Pritchett took second.
