MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead volleyball team picked up its first conference win of the 2019 season with a 25-19, 25-20, 16-25, 25-17 win over Bemidji State in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Friday night at Nemzek Fieldhouse in Moorhead, Minn.
MSUM is now 6-7 overall and 1-4 in the NSIC while Bemidji State fell to 3-10 overall and 0-5 in the league.

Amanda Carlson had 14 kills to pace the Dragons while sophomore hitter
Sarah Petrbok had 11 and freshman outside hitter

Brooke Walthall had 13 digs while sophomore setter Kourtney Selensky had 10 and Carlson nine. Senior middle blocker
Kaylyn Jenkins had a big night at the net with four solo blocks and four assists. Freshman setter
Amber Bretwisch had 17 assists while Selensky had 15.
MSUM hit .252 as a team while Bemidji State hit .163. The Dragons were very effective offensively in the first set, hitting .433 with 16 kills to win 25-19.
In the second set MSUM cooled off hitting somewhat — down to .222 — but went on to take the 25-20 win. Bemidji State won the third set 25-16 but MSUM rebounded in the final set to win 25-17.
MSUM hosts Minnesota Crookston at 4 p.m. on Saturday to cap off the weekend.
