Jason Sobolik starts his 23rd year at MSUM, and 14th year as the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance & Student Services. In 2009 Sobolik took on the role as Compliance Coordinator while also fulfilling his role as assistant women’s basketball coach. He was appointed to his current role in 2012. Sobolik served as assistant women’s basketball coach from 2003-2012.Â
Sobolik joined the MSUM family in 2003 and was promoted to number one assistant on the women’s basketball staff in August of 2005. During his nine years Sobolik coached both perimeter and post players. He has worked with eight different players who were named All-NSIC First Team along with two who have been named to the All-North Central Region Team. During his time as an assistant he helped the Dragons build a 162-99 record, advanced to NCAA Division II Central Regional tournament three times and captured a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference crown in 2005. The Dragons reached the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference postseason in each of his nine seasons.

Sobolik signed on at MSUM after two years as a women’s assistant basketball and softball coach at Bemidji State University. Sobolik was named head softball coach at MSUM in 2004 and directed the Dragons to a 36-17 finish. He was honored as the NSIC Softball Coach of the Year. Sobolik coached a USA Select Softball team that captured the Bronze medal at the 2005 Arafura Games in Darwin, Australia.

Sobolik is a member of the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) and serves as the Vice-Chair on the Division II NAAC Committee and also serves on the NCAA DII Committee on Infractions. In 2023, Sobolik was awarded the NAAC Division II Excellence Award. This award prestigious award is given to a compliance professional who is a leader in the compliance field at the Division II level.Â
The Mandan, N.D., native graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in Social Studies Education. He earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from MSUM.
