MOORHEAD, Minn. — Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball player
Megan Hintz has been selected to play for USA D-2 Basketball Team Tour in Brazil from July 30-Aug. 8. The tour is coordinated by USA Sports Tours and Events.
Hintz joins
Drew Sannes,
Cassidy Thorson and
Jacky Volkert as Dragons who have played on the tour. The teams are made up of invited NCAA Division II players from across the country. Team members have been recognized nationally, regionally and at the conference levels.
"I am beyond thrilled to represent the USA in Brazil at the end of this month," Hintz said. "It was an honor to be selected and I was ecstatic when I read the email. I have never been overseas before, so I look forward to experiencing a different culture & showing the rest of the world how we do it here in the US! Drew, Cass, and Jacky have said this is an experience of a lifetime and I can't wait to participate in this journey with other girls in the conference/region."
The tour begins on July 30 when the team departs from Florida after team orientation in Orlando. Their first game is Aug. 1 vs. the Jundiai U22 Club Team. On Aug. 2 the team will play Osasco's top club team, and then will play Mangueira Basquete Club of Rio on Aug. 4. The team's final game is Aug. 6 vs. Fluminense.
Hintz averaged 11.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per game last season for MSUM, helping the Dragons to a second straight NCAA Tournament appearance and a second straight NSIC title. She will be a junior at MSUM this season.
