MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Minnesota State University Moorhead athletics fans! Mark Your Calendars for the 7th Annual Go Pink with the Dragons!  This year's event is set for Feb. 3-8, 2014 at MSU Moorhead.

The theme is "Get in the Game and Donate Bone Marrow" with the focus on blood cancers and the importance of donating bone marrow. In collaboration with the National Be The Match Bone Marrow Registry, there will be scheduled times throughout the week to register as a bone marrow donor.

"This year's event is in honor of Sandy Schob," said Gloria Riopelle, event organizer. "We support Sandy in her journey and designed this year's event to educate our campus and community about blood cancers. With the help from the National Be The Match bone marrow registry and area volunteers, we hope to help someone find a bone marrow match."

Sandy Schob is the MSUM Business Manager for the Office of Student Activities and Athletics and a Leukemia survivor.

Robert Jones and Nick Walters created the video above in honor of Sandy Schob and to bring awareness of the National Be the Match Bone Marrow Registry scheduled during Go Pink with the Dragons week.

"It was a joy to see how many people were enthusiastic about being in the video," Robert Jones said. "Our campus community values Sandy and we hope the video helps increase awareness and encourages students, staff and faculty to register for bone marrow donation."

Go Pink With the Dragons will also be televised live on WDAY 6.3 and Midcontinent channel 596 starting at 5:45 P.M. on Friday, February 7.

"Dragon Athletics has committed to the fight against cancer," said athletics director Doug Peters. "We hope the live broadcast of our games increases awareness about the 'Be the Match' bone marrow registry and encourages our community to consider joining the registry."

The Dragon's Women's Basketball team, led by Head Coach Karla Nelson, sponsors Go Pink with the Dragons as a community service to educate and raise awareness about the importance of screening for breast cancer and other cancers. This event also raises funds for the MSUM Go Pink Scholarship and the Sanford Health Roger Maris Cancer Center.

Go Pink T-shirts go on sale Feb. 3 for $10 at the MSUM bookstore, career center, athletic department and bone marrow registry times throughout the week. They will also be available at the Sanford Health Gift Shop.   Proceeds from the T-shirt sales and Go Pink Silent Auction will benefit the MSUM Go Pink Scholarship Fund and the Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo, N.D., with the exception of FM Derby Girls, whose proceeds will go to the RMCC.?
