MOORHEAD, Minn. – Saturday, February 23 hosts the final home basketball games of the season and features a grand prize that could earn one lucky fan $4,500 in cold hard cash. This is the third annual Fill the Fieldhouse event, which is the yearly attempt of the Dragon Athletics Department to break the Nemzek Fieldhouse attendance record. To pack the bleachers, past prizes have been a new car, a dream vacation and this year features the Valley Imports Season of Cash finale.
The best part about this season's grand prize is that anyone could be chosen. In the past, fans had to pre-qualify in order to compete...but not this year. Anyone who is at least 18 years old and signs up at the door could be chosen at halftime of the men's basketball game against the Minot State Beavers to win the Valley Imports Season of Cash finale which has been deemed Money Madness.
The current attendance record was set on the first Fill the Fieldhouse in 2011 with 1,806 fans. This year, the first 1,807 fans will get a free taco coupon from Taco John's for being a part of breaking the attendance record.
If the free taco doesn't get you through the doors, other prizes that night include an iPad Mini with smart cover, $500 in gift cards, two free textbooks and 250 t-shirts.
The women's game begins at 4 P.M. and the men tip-off at 6 P.M. and because it is the last games of the season, both teams will be honoring their seniors. On the women's side Kaycee Charette and Marisa Yernatich will be recognized and Alex Novak, Anthony Tucker and Eric Olson will be acknowledged.
The night will also feature a appropriatly insane Harlem Shake dance at the men's game halftime for everyone to join in on. The trending viral videos all over the world need an official MSUM submission. Led by Scorch of course, the dance will be shot and edited for the crowd to see at the end of the game. Wear your Dragon gear or just get ready to go crazy.
