MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team wraps up a four-game homestand this weekend with a pair of contests against Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference foes. The Dragons will host Southwest Minnesota State at 1 p.m. on Saturday and conclude the weekend with a game against the University of Sioux Falls on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Both games will be at MSUM's Soccer Field.
The Dragons are coming off of a pair of one-goal home losses last weekend. MSUM fell to Minnesota Crookston, 2-1 on Oct. 12 and then fell in overtime to Bemidji State, 2-1 on Sunday. Seven of MSUM's losses this season have come by one goal.
Junior
Erin Nyberg leads the Dragon offense with three goals and six points. Freshman
Jessica Johnson and junior
Stephanie Lindo each have a goal, an assist and three points. Johnson leads with 32 shots, including 17 on goal, while Nyberg has 26 shots, including 12 on goal.
Three goalkeepers have shared time in net for MSUM. Sophomore
Ashley Leintz has a team-high 51 saves (tied for ninth in NSIC) and also leads the team with a 1.30 goals allowed average (10th-best in the NSIC). Leintz is also tied for second in the league with a .879 save percentage. Senior
Carole Braschayko has 44 saves and leads the NSIC at 11.00 saves per game, with Leintz second in the league at 10.2 saves per game.
Rollie Bulock is in his 16th season as MSUM's head coach with a record of 91-161-14 at the school.
About Southwest Minnesota State
The Mustangs are 11-1 overall and 8-1 in the NSIC. SMSU saw an 11-game winning streak end with a 1-0 to Winona State on Sunday. SMSU has been ranked as high as 18th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division II poll this season. Miranda Cadena has been one of the NSIC's top offensive threats with nine goals, five assists and 23 total points. Autumn Hayes has five goals, three assists and 13 points, while Kendahl Fisher has three goals, seven assists and 13 points. Freshman Brienna Dehkes has been strong in goal with a 10-1 mark and 0.64 goals allowed average. She has six shutouts on the year. T.J. Buchholz is in his third year as SMSU's head coach with a record of 22-20-2 at the school.
About Sioux Falls
The Cougars are 1-10-1 overall and 1-7-1 in the NSIC. They will face Northern State on Saturday prior to facing MSUM. USF has lost three in a row, including a 5-1 home loss to Upper Iowa on Sunday. The Cougars' lone win came on Oct. 5, a 1-0 decision over Minnesota Crookston. Maria Gonzalez leads USF with two goals and five points on the season. Six different players have recorded assists. In goal, Corrin Cook is 1-10-1 with a 2.20 goals allowed average this season. She has two shutouts. Mekonnen Afa is in his seventh season as USF's women's soccer coach with a record of 37-74-9 at the school.
