MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon women's basketball team announced Wednesday the intent of four more student-athletes to join the roster for the 2012-13 season.
Joining the Dragon squad next season will be Heather Strese of Brandon-Evansville High School (Evansville, Minn.), Anna Rynda from New Prague High School (New Prague, Minn.), Morgan Banasik from Prairie du Chien High School (Prairie du Chien, Wis.) and Kyleigh Hebert of Spencer High School (Spencer, Wis.).
Banasik a 5'7” guard finished her high school career as the second leading scorer in Prairie du Chien schools history. During her tenure there she racked up 1,507 points and 503 rebounds with averages of 16.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.8 asists and 2 steals per game in her senior year. She was also selected to the All-State Honorable Mention team, was the SWC Conference Player of the Year, a two-time First Team Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Team, and four-time SWC All-conference First Team. Banasik also earned eleven letters during her high school career in basketball (4), volleyball (3) track (3) and softball.
Hebert, a 5'8'' guard, finished her high school career with 870 points, 310 steals and 295 rebounds for the Spencer High School (WI) Rockets. In her senior season she added 14.1 points, 4.8 assists, 3.7 steals and 3.4 rebounds per game. She was selected to two all conference teams and earned MVP honors during her senior season. Hebert racked up twelve letters during her Rocket career in basketball (4), volleyball (4) and track(4).
Strese a 6'1” forward will be joining her sister
Megan Strese on the Dragon squad. She averaged 23.4 points and 12.9 rebounds per games in her senior season. Over her career she scored 2,013 points, which landed her the all-time leading scorer title in Bradon-Evansvilles school history, surpassing her sisters previous record. Strese was selected to the 1A All-State team, was a four-time All-Conference Team selection and Little Eight conference MVP. Strese earned 15 letters at Brandon-Evansville, basketball (6), volleyball (5) and track (4).
Rynda a 5'10” guard, an All-State Honorable Mention and two-time All-Conference recipient, topped off her career by achieving New Prague's all-time leading scorer honors with a career total of 1,336 points. She led her team averaging 22.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.1 steals per game in her senior season.
These four Dragons recruits will be joining Leah Miller, Jessy Noreen, Savanna Handevidt and Rachel Boegeman, who had earlier committed to round up the 2012-13 freshman recruiting class.
