MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Minnesota State Moorhead football opens the 2026 NSIC schedule this weekend in the second game of a two-week home stand. The Dragons host visiting Concordia-St. Paul on Thursday beginning at 6 p.m.

Fans can also listen to the game live on AM 1100/FM 92.3 with 'Big Game' James McCarty and Jace Denman on the call. Moorhead opened the 2026 season on Thursday,
toppling Northern Michigan at home, 41-19.
Matchup History...MSUM enters Thursday's game riding a three-game win streak over the Golden Bears dating back to the 2021 season. The two teams have not met since October 19, 2024, when MSUM needed a late
Jack Strand comeback to defeat CSP, 34-31. In the all-time series, the Golden Bears lead the Dragons 10-6. This came thanks to five straight CSP wins to begin the series' history. Concordia-St. Paul won the first-ever meeting between the two programs on September 15, 2001, 31-28. MSUM would not earn its first win over the Golden Bears until October 24, 2006, a 20-18 home conquest for Moorhead.
Cookin' In The Opener...MSUM handled Northern Michigan in the season opener, 41-19. It's the second straight season opener where Moorhead has tallied 40 or more points. In
Steve Laqua's tenure as head coach, the Dragons have scored 40 or more points five times in season-opening contests. Last Thursday's victory was Laqua's ninth season-opening conquest in his 16 seasons as head coach of the Dragons. Laqua enters Thursday looking for his 75th career victory at MSUM.
Hello Mr. Huebner...Sophomore quarterback
Drew Huebner had a breakout performance for MSUM in the 41-19 win over Northern Michigan. Huebner completed 21 of 31 passes for 265 yards and four touchdowns. The Morris, Minn., native added 104 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine carries. Huebner's rushing attack also featured a 73-yard touchdown run, the longest by a Dragon since the 2017 season (Jonathan Kabambi, 78 yards).
Nose For The Bol...Sophomore linebacker
Gannon Bolgrean also turned in a strong debut performance for MSUM last Thursday. Bolgrean made a game-high nine tackles, including seven solo stops. The Barnesville, Minn., product also logged a tackle for loss totaling five yards in the Dragon victory. Bolgrean also showcased that he is strong in pass coverage as well, logging a breakup and an interception.
An Active Scene...Fellow sophomore
Jacion Owens put his talent on display against Northern Michigan. Owens was second to Bolgrean in tackles, logging eight total tackles and seven solo stalls. Owens also had a pass breakup and turned in a momentum-shifting play early in the game. The Esko, Minn., native picked off the Wildcats in the end zone on the game's first series to spark the Dragons.
Doing More With Less...As a team, Moorhead turned in a true statistical anomaly against Northern Michigan. MSUM was able to pile up 41 points despite only possessing the ball for 25:16. Compare that to the 34:44 mark the Wildcats held in the game. Additionally, Northern Michigan ran a total of 85 total plays, compared to 57 for the Dragons, a 28-play margin.
Quick Scout...Like Northern Michigan, Concordia-St. Paul looks to a new leader in 2026 in head coach Joshua Schumacher. The Golden Bears defeated Quincy in week zero 38-21. Running back Joel Lacy tallied 118 yards of offense and two touchdowns in the win.
