| By:
MOORHEAD, Minn. – Minnesota State Moorhead golf embarks on its second tournament of the Spring season on Monday and Tuesday. The Dragons will take part in the 36-hole Augustana Spring Invitational as Elmwood Golf Course.

Live results will be available at msumdragons.com. Tee times are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Monday with Moorhead beginning round one at 10:54 a.m. The Dragons last competed at the SMSU Challenge on March 12 and 13, finishing eighth as a team with a season-best 36-hole score of 685.

Tee Time Breakdown…Kamryn Wesloh will begin competition for the Dragons on Monday with a 10:54 a.m. tee off. Karlee Luneckas (11:03 a.m.) and Adi Houkom (11:12 a.m.) are set to follow Wesloh. Regan Braun will tee off at 11:21 a.m. with Aspen Beyer right behind her at 11:30 a.m. Finally, senior Halle Balluff will tee off at 11:39 a.m. on Monday. The Dragons will be playing alongside competitors from Bemidji State, UMary and Dakota Wesleyan on Monday. Tuesday's round will be a shotgun start.

Balluff Matches Record…The senior Balluff was superb at the SMSU Challenge, finishing seventh on the individual leaderboard with a 36-hole score of 154. This included shooting a personal-best 74 in round two. That matches the 18-hole school record (held by teammate Beyer). Balluff was consistent all day, shooting four over on the front nine, which included four pars and a birdie. The Moorhead native was even better in the back nine, shooting even par (34) with just one bogey. Balluff combated her bogey with a birdie on the par-four 12th hole. Balluff was named MSUM's Student-Athlete of the Month for her efforts.

A Season-Best Effort…As a collective, Moorhead had its best 36-hole outing of the season at the SMSU Challenge. The Dragons improved by 13 strokes from day one to day two, shooting an impressive 336 to conclude the tournament. That mark is the lowest 18-hole team round since Moorhead marked a 333 in the second round of The Jewel Invitational on September 25, 2023. Additionally, MSUM's 336 cumulative score was just nine strokes off the school record of 327 (set in 2022). Moorhead's 685 overall score is the lowest 36-hole count since the Dragons notched a 671mark at last season's EverSpring Inn & Suites Mustang Invitational.

By The Numbers…Balluff leads the Dragons with an overall stroke average of 84 in five tournaments this season. Beyer turns in a stroke average of 89.6 while Braun holds a 91.6 average. The junior registered a personal best 18-hole score of 86 during the second round of the SMSU Challenge.

The Course…Elmwood Golf Course is a par 72 course that features four par-threes, 10 par-fours and four par-five holes. The course has a total yardage of 6,081.

Brock Ellingson is in his third season as MSUM's head golf coach.
