ST. CLOUD, Minn. — The Minnesota State Moorhead volleyball team fell to #15 St. Cloud State 3-0 Friday night at Halenbeck Hall. The Dragons fell in straight sets to the Huskies (25-13, 25-22, 25-16).
The Dragons battled throughout the match but were unable to overcome a strong St. Cloud State attack. The Huskies hit .393 as a team while recording 55 kills compared to 33 for MSUM.
Raiah Mandell led the Dragons offensively with 12 kills while hitting .417 for the match. Ava Wild added 11 kills and three blocks, while Maci Martini finished with six kills, eight digs and an ace.
MSUM found its strongest offensive rhythm in the second set, hitting .371 and recording 15 kills. The Dragons remained within striking distance throughout the frame before St. Cloud State closed out the set, 25-22.
The Huskies controlled the opening set, hitting .364 while taking a 25-13 victory. St. Cloud State then closed the match with a 25-16 third-set win after hitting .385.
Madi Colby paced the Dragons with 19 assists, while Brooke Gillingham added 11. Martini and Ellie Keuseman each recorded eight digs, with Colby contributing six.
At the net, Kate Halvorson led MSUM with four blocks, while Wild and Ruby Bones each added three. As a team, the Dragons finished with eight blocks compared to four for St. Cloud State.
St. Cloud State was led by Kinsey Mohwinkle's 13 kills and Shelby Kimm's 12 kills and 16 digs. Braya LaPlant added 47 assists for the Huskies.
