FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. – MSU Moorhead was paced by redshirt freshman
Chase Hoechst and senior
Grace Dorsher at the 38
th annual Roy Griak Invitational.
The Dragon men finished in seventh place as a team at the meet while the MSUM women finished in 16
th in the team standings.
Chase Hoechst would lead the MSUM charge, finishing 22
nd overall in the men's maroon 8000m race. Hoechst ran a time of 26:42, which marks a new personal best for the Bismarck Century product.
Adnew Stueven would place 32
nd overall with a time of 26:55.3. Stueven rallied from a tough start, gaining 23 places from the 3000m to the 5000m marker. The senior continued his stride by moving up 31 spots from the 5k marker to the end of the race.
Salman Mohamed would run a steady mark in his first collegiate 8k, finishing with a time of 27:32.3. Fellow freshman
Zane Guderjahn would complete the race six spots behind Mohamed with a mark of 27:39.3.
Brett Kurschner would complete the team scoring for the Dragons with a time of 27:56.2.
Colin O'Farrell (28:07.6) would finish within the top 100, while freshman
Luke Buentello jumped up 15 spots late with a finishing time of 28:25.7.
Lander Lahtinen (28:57.7) and
Janis Riekstins (29:04.2) also marked new collegiate bests in their 8k debuts.
Grace Dorsher would again lead MSUM in the women's maroon 6000m race, pacing a time of 24:51.5. The senior moved up 48 places from the one-mile mark to the 3000m point.
Abbie Christen would run a 25:34.7 while freshman
Sophia Ness would place just behind Christen with a time of 25:38.9.
Rounding out the Dragon scoring was
Kaela Traugott (26:03.9) and
Katelyn Kennedy (26:04.8).
Brooke Baumann (26:46.1) and
Madison Kepner (27:55.4) would wrap the MSUM competitors with Kepner jumping up 25 spots from the 3k to the 5k marker.
