MBB Transfers 2024-25

Dragons Complete Roster with Three Division I Transfers

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead men's basketball coach Tim Bergstraser has announced the completion of the Dragon roster heading into the 2024-25 season. The Dragons added three NCAA Division I transfers to the mix this offseason on top of eight returners and four incoming freshman. 

The new transfers are as follows:

Sam Hastreiter, Forward (6-7, Lincoln, Neb. - Pius X Catholic High School - North Dakota State)

Spent the past two seasons at North Dakota State University where he scored a total of 117 points for the Bison while connecting on 26 three-pointers in 40 games played...made four career starts for the Bison, clipping a 42.6 percent mark from long distance in his two years...had an overall field goal percentage of 48.1 for NDSU...set the NDSU single-game record for three-pointers made without a miss, notching seven triples against Pacific on November 13, 2022...averaged 14.5 points, five rebounds and two assists per game in his career at Pius X Catholic High School...was named a Nebraska super-state third team performer as a senior in 2022, helping Pius X to a district championship...averaged 10 points and five rebounds as a junior, earning all-conference and all-state honorable mention, helping Pius X to a state tournament berth...son of Charity and Ben Hastreiter. Majoring in business.

Levi Birkholz, Guard (6-3, Lake Mills, Wis. - Lakeside Lutheran - The Citadel)

Spent last season at NCAA Divison I The Citadel, playing in 17 games for the Bulldogs and scoring a season high of four points against Pfeiffer on December 5..led his conference in scoring his final two seasons at Lakeside Lutheran, scoring 22.9 points per game during his junior season..averaged 20 points per game as a senior with a 61.5 percent field goal clip...was an all-state honorable mention as a sophomore...also competed in football and track & field...was a second team all-conference performer in football as a senior...son of Sheryl and Gregg Birkholz.

Jayden Doyle, Guard (6-4, Knoxville, Tenn. - South Kent / Freedom Christian Academy - Monmouth)

Spent the previous three seasons at NCAA Division I Monmouth where he would take a redshirt year as a true freshman in 2021-22...as a redshirt freshman in 2022-23, saw action in 26 games for the Hawks, scoring 51 total points on 46.8 percent shooting from the floor...scored a season-best 10 points against Colgate on November 21...in 2023-24, played in 22 games for Monmouth...was named to the CAA Spring Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll in 2022-23...played his high school basketball at both South Kent School in Knoxville, Tenn., while also spending his early prep years at Freedom Christian Academy in Fayetteville, N.C...scored 13.4 points per game while at South Kent to go along with four rebounds and two steals per contest...grandson of Charter and Janice Doyle. Majoring in political science.
