BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) has announced its 30 Honor Student-Athletes of the year for its 15 institutions. Senior swimmer Arina Bratamidjaja and junior wrestler Gunnar Mogen were named MSU Moorhead's honorees.

The member institutions of the NSIC nominate one male and one female student-athlete for the Britton and Kelly Awards. The nominees must meet the following criteria:

- A grade point average of 3.5 or better (on a 4.0 scale);
- Evidence of academic excellence beyond the minimum grade point average (scholarship, prizes and other academic recognition).
- Evidence of participation in the life of the institution, and evidence of participation in at least two-thirds of the varsity events of the individual's primary sport.

The award is voted on by the NSIC Faculty Athletic Representatives. The 30 student-athletes nominated for the NSIC's two most prestigious awards will also be recognized as NSIC Male and Female Honor Student-Athletes of the Year at their respective institutions.

Bratamidjaja, a senior from Sentul City, Indonesia, wrapped her collegiate swimming career this past winter and was named the NSIC's Outstanding Senior of the Year award winner. She achieved a 3.89 cumulative GPA in her academic career at MSUM as a psychology major. Thanks to her excellence in the classroom, Bratamidjaja was named a Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction Award winner. She is also a multi-time member of the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence and the CSC Academic All-District Team. Bratamidjaja is also very active in the MSUM campus community, serving in a multitude of roles across campus including in the athletic department. She was the recipient of MSUM's Psychology Departmental Award for two years in a row (junior and senior level). The department award recognizes a student demonstrating in overall academic achievement and commitment to the field of Psychology.

Mogen, a junior from Velva, N.D., completed his 2023-24 season with an 11-17 overall record at 149 pounds, including four pins. In the classroom, Mogen holds a cumulative GPA of 3.94 as a biology (health and medical sciences) major at MSUM. He is a three-time National Wrestling Coaches' Association (NWCA) Scholar All-America honoree and is a multi-time member of the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence. The junior has made the MSUM's Dean's List every semester and was a recipient of the Distinguished Dragon Scholarship. Mogen continues to be a leader of the student-athlete voice at MSUM as well, playing an integral role in the school's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) where he served as Vice President in 2023-24. He has also been the team captain for the Dragons over the past two seasons.
