LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has unveiled its All-Region selections and MSU Moorhead third baseman
Mack Gallagher has been named to the All-Central Region Second Team.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's eight regions with first and second-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated their student-athletes and voted for the teams. All the honorees are now eligible for selection to the 2023 NFCA Division II All-America squads.
Gallagher became one of the most dangerous hitters in the NSIC in her first year at MSUM, hitting for a .417 average with 63 total hits. The freshman also slashed a slugging percentage of .715 and an on-base percentage of .477. Her 1.192 OPS led the team as did her 11 home runs and 50 RBIs with the home run and RBI marks becoming new single-season school records. The Frankfort, Ill., native was also sharp at the hot corner for the Dragons with a .944 fielding percentagFor those efforts, Gallagher was also named to the All-NSIC First Team.
The 2023 NFCA Division II All-America teams will be announced on Wednesday, May 24 at the NCAA Division II Championship banquet in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Celebrating 40 years in 2023, the NFCA is the professional organization for fastpitch softball coaches. Known for its highly-regarded All-Region and All-America awards, the NFCA also educates and supports softball coaches on a variety of different levels: from podcasts to a comprehensive drills database, to in-person events and a National Convention.
