EDINBORO, Pa. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead volleyball team picked up two wins at the Rebich Investments Tournament hosted by Edinboro on Friday. MSUM defeated West Virginia Wesleyan College 25-17, 25-10, 25-20, and then topped Edinboro, 18-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-20.
MSUM is 2-0 on the season.
In the opening win over WVWC, senior middle blocker
Kaylyn Jenkins was dominant at the net, hitting .588 with 11 kills while also leading with six block assists. Sophomores Layla Sanati-Zaker,
Sarah Petrbok and
Elise Bakke each added six kills; Bakke hit .500 for the match. Sophomore rightside hitter
Amber Klug added five kills and hit .714.

Becca Koehn had 18 set assists for MSUM while freshman setter
Amber Bretwisch had 17. Senior defensive specialist
Taylor Thorson led with seven digs. MSUM hit .338 as a team compared to .132 for WVWC.
MSUM led 14-12 in the first set before scoring the next four points — which included two kills from Sanati-Zaker and one each from Bakke and freshman
Teeya Doppler — to build an 18-12 lead on its way to a 25-17 win.
The second set saw MSUM jumped out to a 8-0 lead and never look back in a 25-10 win.
Leading 13-12 in the third set, MSUM scored four in a row again — Doppler and Bakke each had a block assist and kill during that run — to break the set open on its way to a 25-20 win.
In the win over Edinboro, Petrbok had eight kills while freshman
Bridget Witzmann and Bakke had six eah. Dopper had five. Bretwisch had 19 assists while Petrbok led with 11 digs. Doppler and Jenkins each had one solo block and three assists.
MSUM lost the first set but came back strong in the final three sets to take the win.
MSUM wraps up the weekend with two matches on Saturday. MSUM will face Glenville State College at 9 a.m. Central time and Lock Haven at 3 p.m.
