FARGO, N.D. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead track and team teams recorded three NCAA provisional qualifying marks during competition on Friday at the Dakota Classic in Fargo, N.D., and the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic in Maryville, Mo.

At the Bison Open, sophomore Shryone Kemp recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying jump in the triple jump, winning the event in 48-7 1/4.  Junior Chris Cook was second in the high jump at 6-10 1/4 which is an NCAA provisional qualifying jump.

Junior Nadir Yusuf was third in the 5,000 meters at the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic in Maryville, Mo., running an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 14:18 in that event and setting a school record in the process. Yusuf was the lone Dragon competitor at that meet.

Also at the Bison Open, senior Jonas Matzen was fourth in the men's pentathlon with 3,508 points, which is the second-best score in school history.  Sophomore Shaquiel Higgs was second in the 60-meter dash in 7.11. Junior Clay Jackson was second in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.67.

For the Dragon women at the Bison Open, sophomore Anna Steadland was third in the 60-meter dash in 7.89

Sophomore Caitlin Pritchett was fourth in the high jump with a personal-best of 5-4 1/4 and added a fifth in the triple jump at 33-7 1/2.

Junior Anna St. Catherine recorded a personal-best in the pole vault at 11-1 3/4 to take seventh.

Sophomore Baylie Narum was fifth in long jump at 16-0 1/4 for MSUM.

The Dragons are off until Jan. 18 when they are scheduled to compete at the Marauder Winter Carnival in Bismarck, N.D.
