MOORHEAD, Minn. – Minnesota State University Moorhead head track and field/cross country coach
Ryan Milner has announced that Kyle Long has been named as the new Dragon throws coach.
Long served as a volunteer assistant coach at Arizona State from Aug. 2017 to Oct. 2019. He has USATF Level 1 Coaching Certification.
"I'm excited to have Kyle join our coaching staff," Milner said. "He has been mentored by two of the sports great throws coaches and brings first-hand experience in what it takes to coach and compete at the highest level of NCAA track and field. The knowledge, passion and enthusiasm Kyle brings with him to MSUM will immediately contribute to the development of our young and promising core of Dragon throwers."
Prior to that, Long was a Division I thrower at Arizona State from 2012 to 2017. He earned All-American honors in the discus with an eighth-place finish at NCAA's Outdoor Championships in 2017.
He also finished second in the discus at the PAC-12 championships in 2017 and finished third in the hammer throw in 2017. He had six top eight finishes at PAC-12 Championships.
He's also served as a private coach and helped athletes place in the top four at the USATF Outdoor Nationals and fourth in the 2019 IAAF Outdoor World Championships.
