MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team is ranked 18th in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Preseason Coaches Poll that was released on Thursday.

The Dragons also are ranked 22nd in the D2SIDA Women's Basketball Media poll.

MSUM finished the 2018-19 season with a 27-7 record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament for the first time in a decade. The Dragons won their third straight NSIC regular season title and their fourth straight NSIC North Division crown.

Two teams that MSUM will face in nonconference play — UC San Diego and Central Missouri — are ranked in the top 15 in both polls. UC San Diego is sixth in the WBCA poll while Central Missouri is 11th.

The Dragons return three starters from last year's squad. They open the season at the Regional Challenge in Aberdeen on Nov. 8 vs. No. 11 Central Missouri.
