MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team ran its winning streak to seven with a 90-65 win over Minot State in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Saturday at Nemzek Fieldhouse in Moorhead.
MSUM is now 9-2 overall and 5-0 in the league while Minot State fell to 5-6 overall and 0-5 in the league.
Sophomore guard
Kiley Borowicz set career highs for points (27) and assists (six). She also had four steals. The Roseau native finished 5-of-11 from three-point range.
Sophomore
Lauren Fech had a season-high 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting while adding five assists. Senior
Megan Hintz added another double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. She was a perfect 7-of-7 from the field. Senior guard
Jacky Volkert had 13 points and seven assists while redshirt freshman forward
Peyton Boom had 12 points and six rebounds — all offensive boards.
The game was close at 42-40 at halftime despite Borowicz scoring 20 first-half points. The third quarter saw MSUM get some separation as the Dragons outscored Minot State 24-14 to build a 66-54 advantage heading into the final frame. MSUM shot 9-of-13 from the field in the quarter alone as Volkert had nine points and Fech had four. Boom had four offensive rebounds in the quarter alone.
MSUM pulled away in the fourth quarter on its way to the 25-point win.
MSUM is in action on Wednesday when it hosts Northern State at Concordia College's Memorial Auditorium. Tipoff is 6 p.m.
