MOORHEAD, Minn. - The Minnesota State University Moorhead Athletics Department and Dragon Fire Walk Committee celebrated their fifth annual Dragon Fire Walk for Athletics on Saturday, as the group raised funds for Dragon athletic scholarships and exceeded their goal of $150,000.
Honorary Co-Chairs, Greg and Gail Stazko announced on Saturday morning that the event raised approximately $151,000 for Dragon athletic scholarships through out the course of the festivities.
The event kicked off on Friday evening as banquet guests listened to guest speaker, Jerry Seeman, former NFL Director of Officials.
Saturday began with the Dick Beardsley 5K and 10K runs followed by the Dragon 10-mile. The youth fun run took place on the Ron Masanz Track at Alex Nemzek Stadium before the Games Galore kids area was open and ran by Dragon athletes.
The Dragon Fire Walk capped the event with a walk around campus that was led by the famous Dragon Train. The day concluded with an awards ceremony to honor the top runners, fund raisers and sponsors.
