WAYNE, Neb. - The men and women's cross country seasons for the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons as 14th and 19th places, respectively, did not give the teams enough to extend their seasons.
The men's team finished 14th overall with 366 points. Adams State (Colo.) took the title scoring 20 points, with their top five finishers all placing in the top ten. ASC, Western State (Colo.), Colorado School of Mines, Metropolitan State (Colo.) and Augustana (S.D.) all advance to the NCAA National Championships.
Junior Michael McConnell paced the Dragons, finishing 46th overall in a time of 33:55.7. Seniors Adam Kne nad David Teige followed in 65th and 70th places, in 34:29.5 and 34:37.6.
Also scoring for MSUM, were junior Erik Hansen and senior Scott Egeberg. They finished with times of 35:37.5 and 36:13.4, respectively.
Adams State won the women's race with a total of 36 points. Western State (Colo.), Augustana (S.D.), Mary (N.D.), Metropolitan State (Colo.) and Minnesota-Duluth each advance to the NCAA DII National Championships.
The Dragons' women's team was led by Danielle Thompson who finished 61st overall, in a time of 24:03.8. She was followed by Amanda Wickersham in 91st (24:51.6), Kendra Gaebel in 93rd (24:57.8) and Kari Bloch in 94th (25:03.4). Kristina Anderson was the final finisher for the Dragons in a time of 28:18.3.
