Dragons Men Place First at NCAA Central Pre-Regional, VanWechel Crosses Line First for Women

WAYNE, Neb. - The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons cross country teams are again making waves in the region as the men's squad placed first as a team and Anna VanWechel finished first overall for the women at the NCAA Central Pre-Regional meet on Friday.

The men's team ran a 10K for the first time this season going up against four regional teams, topping second place Augustana by seven points. The Dragons had 32 points with Kyle Eckhoff leading the pack.

Eckhoff raced to a second place finish in a time of 33:27. Michael McConnell and Adam Kne followed Eckhoff with times of 33:49 and 33:55, respectively. McConnell took sixth overall and Kne was seventh.

Scott Egeberg was the fourth Dragon across the finish line in 10th place overall, running the course in 34:17. Clayton Foster rounded out the Dragons scorers in 12th place twenty seconds after Egeberg.

David Teige, Erik Hanson and Travis Husen also ran for the Dragons and took 15th, 17th, and 19th places.

VanWechel paced an incomplete women's squad of only four runners. She finished first for the third time this season, racing the 6K in 22:01.

Amanda Wickersham, Danielle Thompson and Kristina Anderson also raced for the Red and White. Wickersham was 14th overall in 23:43, THompson was 22nd in 24:29 and Anderson had a time of 26:33 in 33rd place.
